The most important aspect of strengthening the bond between a dog and a human is empowering the human pack members to regain leadership over their dog. Most problems with pets arise from unhappy dogs seeking leadership and/or the need to burn excess physical and mental energy.
We started our business with pack walks and pet care, but quickly realized after consulting with many clients that the lack of information in well meaning dog owners creates great stress in a dog’s life. So, we did a lot of research and studied under great trainers to develop a new way of filling this gap with private and individually focused lessons so our clients have the ability to reinforce leadership and increase engagement every day. Our subtle, fun, effective training techniques help owners see instant results that last a lifetime.
Training Packages
Balanced Dogs training packages focus on creating a happier and more peaceful home environment, making sure both the human and the dog is fulfilled in a mutually beneficial relationship. We create this by observing you with your dog and assessing where more leadership could be beneficial for clarity. Our lessons focus on clear body language and focusing on the intensions you want to create while helping you to stay calm and patient during the learning process.
What Sets Us Apart?
We teach owners to fulfill dogs - the opposite of traditional obedience training, which teaches dogs to fulfill humans. No relationship should be one-sided, and we can’t expect our dog to fulfill all of our wants without giving something in return. Both obedience training and behavior training are effective methods, but are needed at different times throughout a dog’s life. Balanced Dogs offers:
• Ability to use other dogs in training because of our specialty in pack work.
• Work outside of a controlled setting or training center. We provide exposure to real-life situations and trigger points for your dog including bikes, rollerblades, kids, other dogs, etc - whatever creates excitement.
• A clear foundation to go back to if you are ever confused. When to get off food or use toys as rewards. We will cover this at your pace.
• A long-term behavior and training plan for your pup or adult.
Love to a dog means knowing its place in the pack and having clear consistent rules between humans and dogs. Dogs need rules and boundaries so they do not get confused, frustrated, anxious, destructive or fearful.
We will help determine what is appropriate for your dog during our initial meeting and a brief form with basic questions about your dog’s behavior, breed, activity level and basic situation.
Foundation
Our private lessons provide one-on-one training to help you gain control and maintain focus with your dog in every situation incrementally. All private lessons start with creating a stress free walk, as leadership can easily be established by mastering the walk and can often rectify problems in other areas. You can also discuss with us any special areas of training which are important to you and we will develop strategies to put you on your way.

Doggie Home School
Your dog will spend one or two weeks with us enjoying fun, activity-filled days including hikes, socialization with other balanced dogs, biking, runs, and plenty of love from our family.
